Memorable Meeting With Two of Baseball’s Greats
Here’s a nice story from a Buffalo guest columnist about an encounter at the Negro Leagues Hall of Fame.
Not all current major leaguers appreciate the history of the game. Ask some about Larry Doby or Curt Flood or Dizzy Dean and many haven’t a clue.
The late Negro Leagues star Buck O’Neil didn’t complain about sometimes going unrecognized. Instead, he spent the latter half of his life educating those who weren’t aware of what happened in the last century.
A guest columnist for the Buffalo News happened across O’Neill and a current big league superstar in a visit that resulted in a special autograph opportunity..and some generosity from a local card shop owner.
