The All Star Home Run Derby brought a flotilla of crafts to the waters outside AT&T Park as fans, collectors and eBay prospectors awaited the horsehide artillery.
The regulars and die-hards were there but this time they had company. Dozens of people tried to get a watercraft--any watercraft--into McCovey Cove beyond the rightfield wall of AT&T Park in San Francisco Monday night.
The hope was that the left-handed hitters in the contest--and in batting practice-- would park a few nearby. Some got a chance to chase them, some were turned away.
Inside the park, there were plenty of balls flying into the seats. But how do you know it's a ball from the Derby and is it really worth anything?
