Boxing was Hank Kaplan's life.
Well known in the sport as a promoter, consultant and writer--among other things--Kaplan was close friends with Muhammad Ali and followed the sport religiously.
He was boxing's unofficial librarian and now his huge collection of memorabilia, photos and newspaper clippings has a new home.
Brooklyn College was the recipient after Kaplan's death and the collection--much of it still housed in Kaplan's original boxes--is available to use or view.
Hundreds of thousands of items are there, safe and sound, after a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
The Wall Street Journal offers a few pictures and the history of Hank and his hobby.
