Maryland Will Auction “Pride” Uniforms

Due to what it describes as “overwhelming demand”, Maryland Athletics will make 10 helmets and 10 jerseys from the Maryland Pride collection, worn Monday by the football team, available for auction.  The uniforms created a major stir when they wore the superhero-like outfits during their Monday matchup with Miami.  “Polarizing” would be the best way to describe the reaction among fans across the country.

The process opens Friday morning. Bidding will start at $500 for the helmets and $200 for the jerseys. Proceeds will benefit Maryland Athletics.

Bidding on the 20 items will end at 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 19. The auction page is located here.

The Terps (1-0, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference), who downed Miami, 32-24, on Labor Day before a sold-out crowd at Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium, are off this weekend.

Maryland faces interstate rival West Virginia at noon on Saturday, Sept. 17, presumably wearing more traditional uniforms.
