If he needs it–or wants it–pray you aren’t bidding against him. Marshall Fogel is a Denver attorney who over a relatively brief period of time has amassed a Cooperstown-worthy collection. He owns the best Mickey Mantle rookie cards in existence. You could read by the light thrown off by his autographed Babe Ruth baseball. His game-used lumber collection seems to have come from heaven’s bat rack.
Fogel paid what was once considered a lot of money for some of the best items in his collection. But anyone who thought he overpaid for much of anything isn’t singing the same tune now.
His collection belongs in a museum, but for now it’s still just part of his own decor. He chatted about the sports memorabilia market here with MSNBC.
