Major Leaguers Talk Rookie Cards

They were born in the era of overproduction–the late 1980s and early 90s–so today’s young big leaguers are no strangers to the rookie card phenomenon, the card shop and 2010 Topps Finest Redemption Ike DavisKen Griffey Jr.

Many of them even called themselves collectors growing up.

So what’s it like for them to see their own rookie cards in the mailbox, awaiting a signature?

“Pretty cool” is what you hear a lot.

The shine tends to wear off a bit when hundreds of them wind up inside your fan mail but talking about seeing themselves on an MLB-licensed card for the first time usually brings a smile and a story.
