Maine Man Jailed for Old Card Scam

A 66-year-old man will spend three years in jail and pay restitution to three victims after prosecutors in Maine say he took money from baseball card and other collectible sales and didn’t deliver what was advertised.

David Anderson

David Anderson of Lubec, Maine reached a plea agreement and avoided a longer sentence and fine.

Authorities say the incidents happened between 2001 and 2005 but piecing together the evidence they needed to get a conviction was a time consuming process.

Anderson was accused of theft by deception.

Prosecutors say there were at least 25 victims, who paid him over $87,000 during the four-year stretch that got him in trouble.

The Bangor Daily News says Anderson was quickly shuttled off to the pokey.
