Louisville Man’s Collection Hard to Beat

Dave King lives just a few miles from the Louisville Slugger Museum.  If they ever need items for display, he wouldn’t be a bad guy to call.

The 57-year-old King has an office and basement full of baseball memorabilia that would be the envy of any collection–public or private.

Hundreds of autographed baseballs, dozens of game-used bats, thousands of signed baseball cards and a lot more.

“Most everything I have, I stood beside the player and got it personally,” King said. “Most every autograph I have in my collection I got from the individual face-to-face.”

King is relentless in his pursuit of autographs, making regular trips to spring training.  It also helps to have a few connections.

The Yankees are his team and the focus of some of his best pieces.  Yes, his dog and one of his sons are named for pinstripers.

The Louisville Courier-Journal goes inside the collection that is threatening to take over the house.
