Upper Deck Releasing Two New Products

When collectors pull a game-used jersey or bat card from packs, they frequently wonder, “I wonder where the rest went.” Upper Deck has apparently used "the rest" in its 2007 Upper Deck Artifacts Baseball.

The company says the product will feature insert cards with buttons and tags from game-worn jerseys. The 1/1inserts called Rare Apparel feature the player’s autograph and a game-used button, tag and patch. They will also be able to find 1/1 game-used "bat knob cards".

Boxes are slated to yield three memorabilia cards numbered to 299 or less and one Auto-Facts signature card. Auto-Facts were released in an unannounced preview version for 2007 SPx Baseball last month.

“Value and chase are what makes this product so much fun to collect,” said Gregg Kohn, Baseball Product Manager for Upper Deck. “The Rare Apparel and Bat Knob cards give collectors the opportunity to pull an Exquisite type insert in a much more affordable pack.”

2007 Artifacts Baseball comes with ten packs per box and four cards per pack with a suggested retail price of $9.99 per pack. The product is set to his store shelves on Thursday.

2007 Elements Baseball is due out in August. The card packs will carry an $11 price per 3-card pack. The company says there will be three mini boxes to choose from – Acetate (PETG), Foil Board and Light F/X.

Elements Baseball will offer three different versions of the Daisuke Matsuzaka technology cards, numbered to 550, to the multi-player cards with some of today’s greatest athletes on the diamond such as Ken Griffey Jr./Cal Ripken Jr. and the Vladimir Guerrero/Ken Griffey Jr./Jim Thome/Derek Jeter quad auto card numbered to one,” said Gregg Kohn Baseball Product Manager for Upper Deck. “There is at least one hit per mini box, either a dual jersey, an autograph or autographed memorabilia card.”

Rookie card fans can chase newcomers like Daisuke Matsuzaka, Hunter Pence, Hideki Okajima and Akinori Iwamura.
