Bill Anderson's job is all about preserving history--so is his hobby.

If you have an old Detroit Tigers photograph, Bill Anderson wants it.

But chances are, he already has it.

The man in charge of the Department of History, Arts and Libraries for the State of Michigan is also a Detroit Tigers and baseball historian. His collection includes over 15,000 photographs--one which even Topps is impressed with.

He's turned the photographs and his historical research into books, but it's the thrill of the hunt that keeps him busy. He follows each and every lead in search of new treasures--and sometimes, they pay off with some pretty cool finds.

"Whenever I see an opportunity to acquire a new photo that has some real quality I try to acquire it," he told the Traverse City Record-Eagle.

"Of course, there are other people competing with me so sometimes I get outbid. I'm not a person of wealth. I can't spend whatever it takes. I have to be judicious."
