A photographer with unlimited access to the baseball artifacts inside the Hall of Fame has come away in awe. His new book is nearly ready for release.

Terry Heffernan grew up going to Municipal Stadium in Cleveland to watch some woeful Indians teams.

Even then and under less than inspiring circumstances, he grew to love baseball. His work as an award-winning professional photographer led to a project that put him in Cooperstown, New York's number one tourist attraction.

Heffernan's photos are the centerpiece of a a new book, 100 Baseball Icons From the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, set to be released February 28th.

He photographed some of the Hall's best baseball memorabilia, but he told one writer he was also the proverbial kid in the candy store when every turn in the Hall's hallways seemed to lead to an amazing discovery.
