No Jet Brett yet, but plenty of other stuff inside Bowman Sterling and Upper Deck SPx.

ImageWith the NFL's regular season just over three weeks away, a pair of 2008 football card releases are hitting the market. NFL SPx has been released by Upper Deck. It includes the following: one “Rookie Signature Triple Memorabilia” card; an additional two signature cards; seven foil-numbered memorabilia cards, which consist of up to three patch or multi-swatch memorabilia cards.

Some of the rookies include Matt Ryan, Jake Long, Darren McFadden, DeSean Jackson, Chad Henne, Rashard Mendenhall, Felix Jones and James Hardy. Cards showcasing some of the league’s biggest talents including “Signature Supremacy” autographed inserts from the likes of LaDainian Tomlinson, Tom Brady, Tony Romo, Wes Welker and even reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Bob Sanders are also featured as well as signed cards from retired greats like Y.A. Tittle and Emmitt Smith.

Each case of 2008 NFL SPx also includes a special “1-of-1” moments card, featuring highlights and moments from top NFL stars. Some of these historic moments include Adrian Peterson’s single-game rushing record of 296 yards, which he set against the Chargers on Nov. 4, 2007 and a card commemorating Joe Montana’s induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000.

“SPx is consistently one of the most popular football releases in the industry, and this year should be no different,” said Brandon Miller, Upper Deck’s Football brand manager. “We’re excited to release this standout product that showcases cutting edge technology with top-line content covering a full spectrum of stars from the 2008 rookie class to some of the greatest legends of all time.”

Upper Deck’s 2008 SPx Football release carries a suggested retail price of $19.99 per three-card pack, with 10 packs per box.

Meanwhile, Topps is releasing its 2008 Bowman Sterling Football. The product include at least one autographed card per mini-box, but not all boxes will contain a rookie autograph. While the majority of mini-boxes will deliver an autographed rookie card, there will be high profile veteran autographs from Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Adrian Peterson, Joseph Addai or Derek Anderson.

2008 Bowman Sterling Football is currently shipping and features 8 autographs and 12 relics per box. In addition, new to 2008 are Dual Autographed Patch Relics and the 1 per 4-box case Gold Refractor Dual Autograph cards.
