A child of the 80s has a chat with one of his old card connections to find out what 's happened to the hobby he left behind.
If there is one thing you discover pretty quickly when you seek out stories from media outlets nationwide it's that a lot of today's young male writers were once connected to the sports card hobby.
For much of the 1980s and early 90s, it seemed like everyone was a collector, dealer, show promoter or investor. Sometimes all three.
Minneapolis-based writer Judd Spicer went in search of a pack of baseball cards at the local gas station only to come away empty handed. That led to some recollections about his days buying, selling and trading-- and the renewal of acquaintances with a well-known Minnesota dealer.
