Private signings aren't limited to pro athletes.
An Alabama autograph dealer was used to working with retired athletes, but decided to take a chance that a former college ballplayer who went on to a slightly different occupation might be willing to do a private signing.
That was over 13 years ago. Since then, Patrick Van Tiem has been a guest of former President George H.W. Bush on a few occasions. The former Chief Executive agreed to private signings with Van Tiem's Legends of History, with his take going to charity.
He told the local paper he also has one special piece of autographed Presidential memorabilia to show for his friendship.
