New York TV station WCBS did some test authenticating for a piece on autograph collecting that aired Sunday night.

You can buy autographs in sports memorabilia shops and at shows. Thanks to the internet you can now browse and buy from a huge market 24 hours a day. The effort to determine whether a signature is real is an issue collectors deal with every day. The general public, perhaps unaware of the large number of questionable items in the market, has it even tougher.

WCBS-TV, the local New York affiliate aired a piece dealing with autographs and authenticity in a recent newscast.

PSA was given charge of authenticating three pieces purchased in a local shop. Not exactly the kind of thorough investigative reporting we'd hope to see---but they tried. Watch the story by clicking here.
