RCA Dome Sale Not Bringing in Big $

It's cost the city of Indianapolis as much to hold the sale of Dome memorabilia as the stuff has brought in.

The city of Indianapolis was fired up about the RCA Dome when the inflatable roof went up in the early 1980s. A couple of decades and change later, it's now a relic. The Colts have a new stadium--one that can do everything the old place did and then some.

There are memories attached to the place for some, but the sale of memorabilia that began earlier this month hasn't been a windfall for the city. It cost them almost $170,000 to bring a company in to handle the removal of seats and someone else to handle the sales. That has left the city with a profit of about...$170,000, mostly from the sale of stadium seats.

Some thought it would be a bigger money-maker, but one of the key figures in the deal knew from the start it wasn't like parting out Yankee Stadium.
