The National Sports Collectors Convention is letting pre-teen kids in free this year.

For the first time in the 29-year history of the event, the National Sports Collectors Convention won't be charging admission to kids 12 and under for the entire five-day run of the show.

The NSCC runs from Wednesday July 30 through Sunday, August 3 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Chicago.

“The National Sports Collectors Convention Inc is committed to introducing young people to trading card collecting,” said National co-show manager, Mike Berkus. “We applaud the NFL and NFL PLAYERS for helping to bring more kids to our hobby.”

NFL PLAYERS will support the Kids Free All Week initiative by coordinating two current NFL players to make appearances and sign autographs for kids free of charge.

“NFL PLAYERS is excited to be a part of this great event that introduces kids to the hobby of collecting,” said Karen Bush, Assistant Vice President of Trading Cards & Collectibles for the organization. “This new initiative combined with the opportunity to meet NFL athletes is sure to make this year’s event a memorable one for card collecting enthusiasts of all ages.”

“The NFL recognizes the importance of marketing trading card collecting to young people,” said Richard Seidlitz, NFL’s Director of Licensing. “We are excited about the prospect of exposing NFLRUSH.com and trading cards to the children who attend this year’s convention.”

NFLRUSH.com is the official kids’ website of the National Football League. The site offers an NFL experience solely for kids, with unique customizable content, games, contests, daily features on NFL players, fitness tips and information on the NFL’s Youth Football programs. The NFLRUSH ZONE, a role playing game, was launched in December 2007.
