Mastro Sale Generates $1.7 Million |

Now focused on a premier event in Chicago, Mastro Auctions puts the cap on its warm-up event by digesting the numbers and addressing some bidding issues.
Mastro Auctions will now be busy with a new line-up of events during the next couple of months.
“Next up is our Live Sports Auction in Chicago,” said president Doug Allen. The Live Sports Auction, which will feature over 90 items, including many never before sold publicly and the Griffey, Jr. 600th home run ball, will be held on August 1 at the ESPN Zone in the Windy City.
“That is going to be an incredible event,” says Allen. “We expect the average per lot price to hit $50,000, more than five times the average lot sold at a typical premier industry auction event.”
Once that sale is over, Mastro will serve up another Premier Sports and Americana Auction and Live Connoisseur event at the end of August. “It’s just one amazing sale after another,” says Allen. “Collectors will barely have an opportunity to catch their breath this summer.”
Allen admits the June Classic Collector auction was not without its challenges. “We want to thank our consignors and bidders for their patience and understanding regarding the downtime our website experienced as a result of circumstances beyond our control,” Allen offered.
The Mastro Auctions website was affected by an internet connection provider’s equipment failure caused by bad weather. “We extended the auction’s closing a couple of days to compensate for the time lost due to interruption,” said Allen. “We appreciate the feedback we received that reinforced this was the right thing to do.”
The June Mastro Auctions Classic Collector event, conducted entirely over the internet, included over 1,500 lots of Sports and Americana collectibles. Bidding concluded on July 2. Highlights included:
