Mickey Mantle's family is hoping plans for a museum dedicated to the popular Yankee can push forward.
Mickey Mantle's legend may have been made in New York but he grew up a few thousand miles to the southwest.
Mantle super collector and family advisor Randall Swearingen is helping the Mick's wife and children with their goal of building a museum dedicated to #7...preferably in his home state of Oklahoma.
The only question seems to be where to put it. His hometown is a little off the beaten path, but that doesn't mean all is lost. There's a class AAA baseball team interested in helping bring the team to a city that's already started to embrace one of the state's favorite sons and one Daily Oklahoman columnist reports they've got plenty of Mantle memorabilia to fill the place--and some other ideas too. |
