They took their last swings in the city over 40 years ago, but the members of the Kansas City Athletics recently found they still have plenty of friends.
They're in their 60s and 70s now. Faces on the 1950s and 60s baseball cards have changed a bit.
The Kansas City Athletics may have moved to Oakland after the 1967 season but the players on those hapless KC clubs are still fondly remembered for bringing big league baseball thrills to a Midwestern outpost when going that far west usually meant minor league ball.
Some of the players on those old A's teams returned to the city over the weekend for a special reunion which included an autograph show and the Kansas City Star reports there were plenty of fans there anxious to grab an autograph or share a story.
