GAI is offering its own cyber-take on your sports cards and memorabilia if a buyer asks.

Global Authentication has launched a web-based verification service that it says will take some of the risk out of purchasing sports collectibles and memorabilia online.

The service involves submitting a high quality, no-flash image for an online review. GAI says it will analyze each item based on the snapshot and the customer is then sent an email message with an opinion on whether the item is genuine. Upon approval, the item can be shipped to GAI for formal certification and grading. The cost for GAI's Digital Review is $10 with a review promised in 24 hours or less.

"GAI Digital Review enables a higher level of confidence in the buyer and is simple for any seller to integrate into the selling platform, resulting in a win-win situation for buyer and seller," said Mike Baker, Director of Grading and Authentication for Global Authentication.

GAI says it will accept signed or unsigned items and according to the company website is currently authenticating sports cards, unopened sports card packs and autographs.

"The process was designed to only take minutes to accomplish yet leave the buyer will a life long reassurance that their purchase is in fact the real deal," said William Dully, CEO and President of Global Authentication.

The launch follows the recent announcement of a service which utilizes advanced image optimization hosting for online auctioneers which adds what GAI touts as another layer of security to the buyers and sellers of sports cards and other memorabilia.
