Fans bought thousands of commemorative editions of the Green Bay Press-Gazette following Brett Favre's retirement. Business isn't quite so good anymore.
If it had Brett Favre on it and it was for sale last year, Packers fans were buying. It was true throughout his career in Green Bay--to the point where Favre merchandise was a multi-million dollar business for the team and a big boost to other ventures too.
Favre was a great story--and still is in a bizarre sort of way. Fans are buying the daily paper to catch up on the news and flocking to the Green Bay Press-Gazette's website too.
But the days when printing special collectors edition newspapers essentially meant printing money have ground to a halt over the last week with news that Favre may not quite be done.
