eBay will ask sellers to state their terms up front starting this fall.

In a move aimed at forcing sellers to put their policies in writing, eBay is planning to require sellers to include a return policy with their listing terms beginning in October.

Sellers won't be required to accept return merchandise, but they will have to explain what their policy is if they're not currently doing so.

eBay actually indicated its plan to require a written policy back in June, but has now set the time frame, according to a blog post by AuctionBytes.com's Ira Steiner.
