Today's cards are full of flash and dash, but there are some things one writer says need to go.

It's not ten cents and a stick of gum anymore. The bells and whistles that populate today's sports card product have kept things interesting for some who might be tempted to move on if buying a pack didn't have the lottery element.

Modern cards can be cool, quirky and embed everything from bat barrels to strands of historic hair. They're pricier than they used to be--even for the base brand cards. For that, the Pro Prospect Report believes we should expect a little more--or maybe a little less.
