NEWS FROM THE NATIONAL
Steve Bartman was not at all interested in being on display at the National.
The security guard stood watch. The money was in the briefcase as promised. And the National Sports Collectors Convention got a boost from all of the publicity during the week.
But... no Bartman.
1 PM came and went on Thursday, the scheduled hour for the world's most infamous Cubs fan to show up and sign the photo of him making a play on the pop foul Moises Alou didn't catch in the 2003 NLCS.
SportsBuy.com and the NSCC were unsuccessful in their attempt to lure him in with the promise of a generous payoff for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. SportsBuy's blog offered some photos and its own take on the stunt when the clock wound down on Thursday afternoon.
