2008 Topps Tom Brady Training camp is almost here and the football card season has already begun. Topps honors Super Bowl XLII, Brett Favre and the armed forces in its new base set.

You won't see any 'retired' stamp on Brett Favre's cards. You won't see Jason Taylor in a Redskins' uniform. But 110 rookies make their debut in Topps' 2008 football card base brand, which has just arrived in stores.

With a new season about to begin, the company leans heavily on Super Bowl XLII for some of its insert cards this year.

Topps offers relic cards featuring pieces of game-used footballs and the company even obtained the end zone pylons from the game to cut up and attach to six cards highlighting players who scored touchdowns in the Giants' win over the New England Patriots.

Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning has signed 150 cards for the Ring of Honor and2008 Topps Eli Manning Super Bowl game ball card Super Bowl MVP Game Ball cards, some of which will only be included in hobby and HTA boxes.

Game-worn jersey and patch swatches from the Pro Bowl game will also be part of the insert campaign as well as numerous autographed cards.

Topps will also honor the armed forces by making football cards of 32 active duty soldiers, representing each NFL team. Current and former NFL players with military ties will be part of the program.

Ten cards honoring Brett Favre's career passing touchdowns--one per season from 1999 to 2007 is a continuation from last year and will feature touchdowns from seasons 8-17 of his career. The cards are autographed and numbered to the touchdown total from each year.

Topps has also cranked out the second 240 cards in a continuity series chronicling Favre's career passing touchdowns with one card for every touchdown.
