Hoping to strike while the iron is hot, a couple of industry giants are hoping to grab some new Yankee memorabilia customers on a home shopping show.
Mounted Memories is hoping to take advantage of the World Series afterglow by offering Yankee memorabilia in a show on the home shopping channel QVC.
The company is promising game used items, signed jerseys and baseballs and a limited edition collage reliving the key moments of the 2009 World Series victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. Steiner Sports is providing much of the material through its partnership with the Yankees.
The special shows will air tonight at 8 PM Eastern time and at 2 AM Saturday.
”We know that there is a fascination with the Yankees and their dominance,” said Scott Widelitz, vice president of Mounted Memories. “The team that consistently rewrites history is one of a kind, and we are honoring the Yankees unparalleled accomplishment with uniquely designed items.” Among these, said Widelitz is an assortment of “Core Four” merchandise, recognizing the achievements of Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada and Andy Pettitte, who were on all the Yankees World Series teams since 1996.
The QVC airings will feature a wide variety of Yankees collectibles including some special items created especially for the show.
”It is truly phenomenal that the Yankees can repeat history, in the inaugural year of their new stadium,” added Widelitz. “Eighty-six years ago, they captured the World Series in the first year of playing in the House that Ruth Built. Here were are, in 2009, and they are champions once again.”
