Not everything winds up in an auction or online sale.

For the New York Yankees, it was World Series victory number 27.

For the Philadelphia Phillies, it was the completion of back-to-back Series visits--not an easy feat today.

For baseball itself, it was another chapter for the history books and nights full of new milestones. Now, some of the game-used memorabilia from the 2009 World Series is about to get a new home. The Baseball Hall of Fame is the beneficiary of those important pieces.

The spikes that sent Johnny Damon past second and into third on a pivotal steal attempt, the bat of Hideki Matsui that helped win the Japanese slugger an MVP. Even a scorecard from a pioneer in the broadcast booth. It's all going to the Hall--and MLB.com has the story of what else won't wind up on the open market.
