Hundreds of lots of vintage baseball cards and memorabilia will be part of a three-day auction later this month.
Philip Weiss Auctions, which sold a T206 Wagner card in its last major sports memorabilia auction, is returning later this month. No Wagner card this time, but one of four separate sessions it is planning over a one-week period includes a large group of sports pieces.
It's the Sunday session, Mar. 29, starting at 10 a.m., that will beam a spotlight on sports memorabilia. Highlights include signed Hall of Fame baseball plaques and vintage baseball cards, to include T206, T205, T202, American Caramel E-91, S81 silks, and a large number of Play Ball cards.
Also to be sold will be some 1912 S81 silks, an 1889 Harvard-Yale game program and ticket; rare 1887 Detroit Baseball Club currency; a selection of signed baseballs and bats; sports prints and lithographs; and a New York Yankees game-worn jersey, originally used by Bill 'Moose' Skowron before his number was changed for use by another Yankees player.
The auction takes place at the company's offices in Oceanside, NY.
