A couple of auction companies have added a new online tool that puts their entire catalog on your computer screen.
Participating in a sports card and memorabilia auction online has never been easier thanks to the launch of a new online tool.
Both Memory Lane and SCP Auctions have added Zmag to their websites, a tool which enables visitors to thumb through a virtual copy of their color catalogs.
Zmag offers state-of-the-art technology that replicates printed material in cyberspace. It is made to be user friendly, giving the reader the ability to zoom in on items for a closer look. Collectors can also click directly from Zmag’s pages and place a bid. There is also a search function that enables bidders to locate the specific piece they’re looking for.
The ZMag component makes it possible to browse the auction in a reader-friendly fashion on any computer or laptop. There are options to print the catalog, download it as a .pdf file, share it on social networking sites or email it to a friend.
“We wanted to create something easy and useful for our collectors that could be viewed from the office, Blackberry or anywhere on the go,” said David Kohler, president of SCP Auctions. “By providing the virtual publication, we’re reaching out to a lot more collectors.”
The interactive system is a "greener" version of the companies’ color catalog which is sent to registered bidders. Thousands are printed each time an auction is held, many of which wind up discarded.
MLI opens its Summer Vintage Rarities Auction Saturday night, July 18. SCP is currently running an online auction using Zmag. It ends next Thursday. |
