2009 Upper Deck Ballpark Triple Spokesman CardUpper Deck brings back some old favorites and adds some multi-sport autograph power to its newest release.

Upper Deck's latest baseball card release hits the market this week. According to the company, 2009 MLB Ballpark Collection is "an outstanding assortment of some of the coolest insert cards ever". Continuing a trend, Upper Deck is relying on its lineup of famous athletes across several sports to boost the autograph portion of the product.

Fans of the 1999 Upper Deck product will appreciate an updated version of the “Piece of History 500 Home Run Club”; bat cards that first appeared in the '99 issue.

2009 Ballpark Collection set includes either three memorabilia cards or one autograph card and two memorabilia cards in every hobby pack, on average. Every pack also yields at least one dual swatch memorabilia cards and one quad-swatch memorabilia card. The game-used bat cards are now dual-, triple-, quad-, six- and eight-piece memorabilia cards.

2009 Upper Deck Ballpark Jordan/Woods dual autograph card "We know how popular retro-focused cards are with collectors, so we really stepped it up with the ‘500 Home Run Club’ bat cards and the ‘Career Legacy’ dual, triple and quad memorabilia cards,” said Gabriel Garcia, Upper Deck’s Baseball brand manager. “This set has something for every level of baseball card fan. The dual-signed Michael Jordan/Tiger Woods UD Spokesmen memorabilia card should really make somebody’s day. There are only five of those cards in existence.”

Collectors will also find one “Ballpark Rookie Autograph” card as well as one autographed memorabilia “Swatch-Auto” card per hobby box. This swatch-auto card lineup includes current superstars such as Derek Jeter, Joe Mauer, Dustin Pedroia, Randy Johnson and Prince Fielder, as well as retired greats including Mike Schmidt and Cal Ripken Jr. Included in the sought-after UD Spokesmen insert collection are dual-, triple-, quad- and six-player signed and game-used swatch cards featuring Ken Griffey Jr., Sidney Crosby, Kevin Garnett, Jeter, Woods and Jordan.

2009 Upper Deck Ballpark Tommy Hanson rookie autographBallpark Collection also boasts an entirely serial-numbered base set. Collectors will be able to find, for the first time this season, signed rookie cards of two of this year’s leading ROY contenders: White Sox infielder Gordon Beckham (numbered to 200) and Braves’ starting pitcher Tommy Hanson (numbered to 125).

Upper Deck’s 2009 MLB Ballpark Collection set (five cards per pack, four packs per box) hits store shelves Thursday. Singles, boxes and cases are already selling on eBay.
