The United Center floor made famous by the 1990s Bulls has been dismantled and cut into commemorative pieces.
Upper Deck is trotting out some fresh Michael Jordan memorabilia just days before his induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Upper Deck Authenticated has unveiled what it calls the Michael Jordan Chicago Bulls Floor Collection, a product line featuring actual pieces from the legendary United Center floor where Jordan and the Bulls once dominated the NBA.
The UnitedCenter floor was the home to a Bulls dynasty that included a star-studded team featuring MJ, Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman. The Bulls carved out a niche in NBA lore at the United Center, winning three of their six NBA championships during the 1990s while playing there – ’96, ’97 and ‘98 – and clinching two of the titles on that very same court (’96 and ’97).
“With Michael’s induction into the Hall of Fame on the horizon, we are excited to be able to give fans a chance to own a piece of basketball history and Jordan’s amazing legacy,” said Chuck Donato, business manager for UDA. “Through a partnership with the Bulls and our exclusive relationship with Jordan, the floor collection will provide fans with a wide assortment of prized collectibles ranging from small pieces of the floor all the way up to being able to own one of the full-size Bulls heads or the Chicago Bulls lettering from the baseline."
The center court Bulls head logo is priced at a cool $74,999 and "can be autographed upon request" according to Upper Deck.
“For the ultimate fan interested in something truly jaw-dropping, you can even contact us about flooring your office or game room with sections of the floor,” Donato said.
Unframed, non-autographed pieces run from $25-$200. Framed pieces featuring a Michael Jordan autograph on a 6x6" piece of floor, run $1600 at The Upper Deck Store.
As part of UDA’s partnership with the Bulls, a portion of the proceeds from the floor will benefit the CharitaBulls, a local Chicago youth organization formed with the mission to enhance the lives of Chicago’s youth by actively creating and supporting educational, recreational and social programs. Over the years, CharitaBulls has contributed tens of millions of dollars for a variety of worthy causes in the Chicagoland area. |
