A strange tale out of Florida involving car salesmen, a 1952 Mickey Mantle, a one man protest, a burglary and a lawsuit.
It sounded like a good deal at the time.
George Savvas was going to trade some sports memorabilia, buy a vehicle and get a job out of the transaction. It didn't work out that way, he says, and so he decided to picket Gulfview Motors in Pasco, Florida.
Sometime after his protest began, his house was burglarized...and he lost $46,000 worth of other collectibles.
Now, he's suing the dealer and the man who ran the day-to-day operations for trying to "punish, intimidate and discourage George during a period when management perceived that he was interrupting its business."
A lawyer for the dealership denies all of this. The St. Petersburg Times tried to sort it all out in this story.
