T206 Christy Mathewson PSA 8100 years ago, they were popping out of cigarette packs. Now, some minty, encapsulated and tobacco-free T206 baseball cards are going on display at the National.

PSA and PSA/DNA will have a multi-million dollar exhibit of T206 Hall of Famers on display during the 30th National Sports Collectors Convention in Cleveland, Ohio, July 29 – August 2.

“This year is the 100th anniversary of the 1909 introduction of the famous T206 tobacco cards. We’ll be displaying dozens of the Hall of Fame players from this classic set. It is the finest known collection of its kind and will soon be listed in the PSA Set Registry,” said Joe Orlando, President of PSA and PSA/DNA, divisions of Collectors Universe, Inc. “This will be one of the finest and most diverse displays we’ve ever been privileged to showcase at a ‘National’ convention.”

It is virtually complete with Honus Wagner and Eddie Plank rarities as the only HOF players missing from the historic HOF group.

Other displays at the PSA booth (# 1447) will be high-grade cards of star players in the 1954 Bowman and 1957 and 1958 Topps sets. This will include some of the finest known cards of superstars Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams, Willie Mays and others. Baseball memorabilia that will be shown will include two certified checks related to the 1919 sale of Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees and a Ruth autographed baseball graded PSA 9.

Cleveland is home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, and the PSA-PSA/DNA displays will include Beatles’ autographs, original photographs and certified 1960’s era concert tickets.

“We’ll also have autographs and collectibles from a non-sports category, including a group of cards from the finest 1959 Fleer Three Stooges set in the world,” said Orlando. “This set was voted as the most important non-sports set in the hobby during an online PSA poll.”

PSA will offer on-site grading and authentication at the convention. Buyers of the Super VIP admission package to the convention can receive a free grade for any card with a declared value of under $1,200.
