Sometimes the sports card news isn't always happy.

Michael Patrick Ryan, formerly of Stanley (NC) is charged with murder in the death of David Carpenter Farrar, 66, of Mount Holly, during an attempted robbery on March 20, 2007.
Police arrested Ryan and co-defendant Wesley Allen Adair four days after Farrar was found by his wife lying dead in his yard. The two suspects are charged with trying to steal sports cards, collectible coins and cash from Farrar's home and killing him during the robbery. Adair's trial date has not been scheduled.

Burlington County, PA Prosecutor Robert D. Bernardi has announced the indictments of 14 people on various charges of consumer and Internet fraud. Included in the group is Philip Dahling, 26, of Shamong, PA who was accused of selling a Mickey Mantle baseball card on eBay for $410, but never delivering the card.
From the Shelbyville (TN) Times-Gazette
A satchel containing vintage sports cards valued at over $7,000 was stolen from a Bryant Road home according to the Bedford County Sheriff's Department .
The cards included a 1952 Jackie Robinson baseball card and rookie cards of Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw and Ken Stabler. The burglary occurred between Sept. 5 and Sept. 28.
