Sammy Sosa jerseyA seven year-old game-worn Sammy Sosa jersey currently on the auction block has a unique characteristic.

He looked like Superman. Hit like him too.

Sammy Sosa's biceps seemed to blast out of his Cubs jerseys when he was still hitting bombs at Wrigley Field.

It turns out, it might have been part of a show.

A specially-tailored Sosa jersey is up for bid in the All-Star Fan Fest auction. It reveals elastic sewn into the sleeve to make homer-happy Sammy look bigger in the batters box.

Sosa memorabilia may have taken a nosedive in recent years, but the jersey being sold by Hunt Auctions might just be a piece of American sports history, symbolizing an era where records fell to players who would later come under scrutiny for how they did it.

CNBC business reporter Darren Rovell has more on Sammy's on-field wardrobe, a story that may be of keen interest to game-worn collectors.
