Missouri card shop owners hope the buzz around the All-Star auction and festivities bounce back to them.

There are far worse places to try and sell baseball cards than the state of Missouri.

Always a baseball hotbed thanks to the Cardinals and Royals' success, collecting is a natural outgrowth for those who grow up in that part of the Midwest. But the upcoming All-Star Fan Fest auction illustrates two sides of the current market.

Big time auctions still do well, thanks to a strong desire for high quality, older items. Card shops, though, are still trying their hardest to remain alive. The Missourian online edition got inside the business part of baseball memorabillia.
