Some decades-old video of Babe Ruth and Yankee Stadium has surfaced--and will join the rest of MLB's mammoth archive of big league history.

It was sitting within the home movie collection of an elderly man in New Hampshire.

Discovered, dusted off and now dubbed onto a digital platform, some fresh but grainy video of Babe Ruth has created a playoff buzz at the offices of Major League Baseball Productions.

The film includes the first moving images of Ruth playing in the outfield at Yankee Stadium. The 90-second clip also shows him at bat. Archivists are now trying to determine exactly when it took place. They have some clues, but there isn't a lot to go on.

It's the latest addition to a 100-year archive of material at MLB; 150,000 hours of video from the early 20th century to today. Librarians and archivists hope more unknown clips are discovered in attics and boxes so they can continue to create and preserve baseball history.

The New York Times has more on the story--and that Ruth video.
