Gary Carter won't sign items portraying him as a big leaguer without a $25 donation.

He's raised miliions for charity since he started turning down fans' autograph requests unless they contributed $25 to his foundation. It's proven to be a shrewd move by a player who did plenty of good during a long big league career with the Expos and Mets.

But the 'no Major League items' policy has left some shaking their heads now that Hall of Famer Gary Carter is now a minor league manager.

Carter, who took over this year as skipper of the Long Island Ducks in the Atlantic League, is more than happy to oblige anyone carrying something from his current team or league, but your 1986 World Series program gets pink slipped. Even kids are sent away if they're carrying an official National League baseball or old baseball card.

For those who aren't aware, though, Carter slyly makes sure they go away with something. according to this story in the York Daily Record.
