Promoters are lining up to bring regular sports card show activity to the city.

Long before suburban shows became popular, baseball card conventions (yes, that's what they were called) grew up in the cities. Small VFW halls and neighborhood centers spawned the hobby's growth before cards were even considered mainstream.

Now, some promoters in and around the city of New York are working to bring back that old flavor.

Queens seems to be the king of future activity, with shows on the docket for the next two years in different locations. They're not looking for National sized turnouts, but early efforts have brought in enough customers to be considered encouraging.

The New York Daily News talked with promoters and dealers about their future plans.
