It might not be a place you think about when you talk hockey hotbeds, but one collector from the Hawkeye state has a lifelong collection--and connections to the game.

Like every other sports-loving kid in the 1960s, Woody Gottburg collected baseball and football cards.

He was also one of those crazy Iowans who loved their hockey.

Gottburg is a collector who has accumulated thousands of cards, programs, autographs and other items over four decades. He owns a trio of perhaps the most famous hockey card of all-time.

A strong connection to a local minor league franchise has led to opportunities to add to his stash. "I just started collecting little by little, and it snowballed over the years," he told the Sioux City Journal.

Check out their story and photos.
