Buyers claim a long-time dealer of sports card boxes and cases left them high and dry after online transactions.
The Ulster County, New York Sheriff's Office has charged long-time dealer Larry Rosselli with several felony counts in connection with the pre-sale of sports card boxes and cases.
Rosselli, of Napanoch, New York is accused of taking payment, but failing to deliver baseball and football cards ordered by six out-of-state residents. He had been under investigation after several buyers who placed orders contacted local detectives.
Newspaper accounts say Rosselli was arrested last week and charged with four counts of grand larceny, and one count of scheming to defraud, both felonies. He's also facing three counts of petty larceny, a misdemeanor.
He was arraigned in Warwarsing Town Court and released on his own recognizance.
Rosselli ran LRCards.com, selling primarily new boxes and cases of cards from sports card manufacturers and also sold on eBay, where he had maintained a favorable feedback rating for several years.
Customers say LR Cards was taking orders in early February, but the business website went offline just a few days later and numerous buyers complained they had not received their orders. A message on the website reads: "Due to changes in business conditions we are unable to accept new orders at this time. At this time LRCARDS is now closed and out of business. Any outstanding orders please contact your credit card provider.'
Some buyers received an email from the Ulster County Sheriff's Department shortly thereafter urging customers who had not received merchandise to contact a detective investigating the case. The email that stated "Rosselli apparently owes between $100,000 - $200,000 to individuals and possibly more than that to various card companies and/or distributors."
Rosselli is free on his own recognizance "pending further action". He'll appear in court at a later date. |
