Huge Vintage Baseball Memorabilia Exhibit

Collectors and baseball fans are expected to flock to a new temporary exhibit at the Elliott Museum in Stuart, Florida during the next 3 1/2 weeks.

"Fall Classic: For the Love of the Game" opens as an exhibit honoring baseball's past and present. It runs October 2nd through October 25th.

The exhibition will use the museum's assemblage of baseball cards, autographed baseballs, correspondence, journals, contracts, signed bats and more to chronicle and celebrate the history and excitement of baseball.

Among the highlights of the exhibition are a baseball signed by the Series winning 1932 Yankees (including Babe Ruth), Ty Cobb's diary and baseball cards signed by the Chicago Cubs' double-play combination of Tinkers, Evers and Chance.

Some former big leaguers are lending their support--and talking baseball as the mini Cooperstown comes to live.

"A lot of fans, particularly older fans, tend to relate more to the players of the past," said Jim Kaat.

“That’s why people go to Cooperstown, to the Hall of Fame. That’s why they collect memorabilia. That’s why they want our autographs.”
