Willis Reed game worn jersey from 1970Some Basketball Hall of Famers jerseys and a pair of pants once worn by Lou Gehrig drew bidders to one company's final sale of 2008.

1970 was a pretty special year in Willis Reed's career.

Red Holzman's Knicks were on their way to an NBA championship. Reed became the first player in NBA history to be named the NBA All-Star Game MVP, the regular season MVP, and the NBA Playoff MVP in the same season.

A game-worn jersey from that season was sold late last week in Grey Flannel Auctions' holiday auction. The blue road jersey topped all other items, with a final selling price of $70,745 including the buyer's premium.

Grey Flannel's connection to the Basketball Hall of Fame has no doubt helped its success rate in landing some uniforms and jerseys from NBA stars of the past. A circa-1966 Cincinnati Royals game-used Oscar Robertson complete home uniform sold for $43.924.

A uniform attributed by Grey Flannel to Michael Jordan's rookie season of 1984-85 brought $28,298; a 1953 Harry Gallatin game-worn All-Star game uniform was purchased for $15,462, a 1967-68 complete San Francisco Warriors uniform that once belonged to Rick Barry sold for $14,910 and a home 1972-73 Jerry Lucas Knicks jersey brought $11,403.

A pair of hand-me-down pants that originated with the Yankees and carried LouLou Gehrig game-worn pants Gehrig's name in the waistband, took a bid of $23,388 to change hands. The pants, which worked their way into semi-pro ball after the Yankees' first baseman was finished with them, included a repair made with an old Hershey's sugar sack.
