Get a peek inside the workings of the FBI unit that helped bring down the forgers in Operation Bullpen.
The FBI has been asking questions in its latest look at the sports card and memorabilia industry. No indictments have been handed down as of yet, but with the investigation now at least two years old, there's little doubt the Bureau is once again serious about fraud.
Known for its excellent convictiion rate, the FBI utilizes a team of experts in a wide variety of investigative fields. The Questioned Documents Unit got a workout during Operation Bullpen, busting a ring of forgers who were good--but not good enough to elude authorities. "Every case leaves a paper trail," says Diana Harrison, head of the unit that looks into items such as autographs.
In this video, Harrison talks about the history of her department and examiner Pete Belcastro shows off one piece from Bullpen that looks real, but isn't. Check out the link to the fake Babe Ruth signed baseball. |
