Burdick's Baseball Cards Draw Curious

In a sports fan's rec room, they'd take center stage. The best of the best might even be in a bank vault somewhere.

But there is plenty of competition for Jefferson Burdick's incredible collection of vintage baseball cards at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York so you won't find them front and center.

The man called the Father of Card Collecting had everything from Old Judge to Topps and actually wrote the first fully-researched book on cards, The American Card Catalog.

Burdick died in the early 1960s, having amassed 30,000+ pieces that are now in the archives of the museum. They're displayed in frames on a corridor wall, rotated on a regular basis so that regular visitors get to see as many as possible.
