Autographs have been big business for the members of those 1970s Cincinnati Reds teams, but as time marches on, they realize they're just like the rest of us. Quite mortal, thank you.
The starting lineup rolls of the tongue like they just played last week.
Rose. Morgan. Perez. Bench. Foster. Concepcion. Griffey. Geronmio.
Together for much of the 1970s, they brought championships to Cincinnati. All Star appearances all around. Hall of Fame nods and iconic status for some. Now, they get together only for reunions and autograph appearances like the one in Cincinnati over the weekend.
It was the first time all eight offensive starters had attended a show in Cincinnati since 2005. Autograph prices ranged from $69 up. Having all eight starters sign a picture was around $700. Other members of the '70s Reds were on hand as well, with autographs priced at $25.
They're still reaching milestones, too. But AARP status isn't something they're real excited about. The Cincinnati Enquirer paid a visit to the signing session.
