A one-of-a-kind Ty Cobb baseball card, a game-used Babe Ruth bat and hundreds of other pieces of sports memorabilia are all piled into the latest catalog from Huggins and Scott. Who needs JC Penney?

Huggins and Scott Auctions kicks off its final event of 2009 by offering several key items and baseball card rarities.

The full-color catalog opens with a 1918-1921 Babe Ruth game-used Louisville Slugger baseball bat that has been authenticated and graded by PSA/DNA, followed by an assortment of early baseball cards including the only known 1910 E93 Standard Caramel Black & White version of Ty Cobb, a 1927 Honey Boy Babe Ruth (SGC 50) and a 1921 Tip Top Bread Baltimore Orioles Lefty Grove uncatalogued “pre-rookie” card (SGC 20) .

This 160-page full-color catalog, features 724 lots of sports and non-sports cards and memorabilia.

In addition to the Ruth bat and rare baseball cards, the auction includes a selection of single-signed baseballs with Cy Young, Harry Truman and Connie Mack; a 1912 NL Champion New York Giants team ball with Christy Mathewson, John McGraw and Wilbert Robinson; a 1932 New York Yankees team-signed ball with Ruth, Gehrig, Lazzeri and Dickey; a 1965-66 Roberto Clemente signed contract; a full-size Heisman replica trophy signed by 29 Heisman winners; a Len Bias University of Maryland game-worn warm-up jacket; an 1815 document signed by James Madison and James Monroe; an assortment of 1954 and 1955 Esskay cards and a plethora of high value modern insert cards with many Babe Ruth versions.

Other notable items include hundreds of autographs including Babe Ruth, Claude “Lefty” Williams 1919 Chicago White Sox payroll check, Ty Cobb, Hack Wilson and dozens of rare Hall of Famers; Michael Jackson signed items; 1983 Baltimore Orioles World Series Championship ring; a pair of Atlanta Braves NL Championship rings (1992 & 1995); dozens of signed Masters golf flags with Tiger Woods, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Payne Stewart and Tom Watson; unopened wax boxes including 1979-80 O-Pee-Chee Hockey full box (Gretzky rookie year); several large groupings of NASCAR collectibles and a litany of rare and highly desirable SGC and PSA graded cards from the pre-war era. Huggins and Scott Auctions prides itself on offering collectibles to all levels of collectors with an affordable grouping of lots and items.

Of special note in this auction is the 1983 Washington Redskins NFC Championship Ladies ring once presented to actress Cathy Lee Crosby by Joe Theismann. The 10K yellow gold ring features a diamond centered against a Redskin burgundy stone and has never left Crosby’s possession, until now.
