For decades the NHL included just six teams. The surviving players from that era are in demand from autograph collectors around the world.

Until 1967, you didn't need much time to check the National Hockey League standings. You could almost memorize them.

New York, Chicago, Detroit, Boston, Toronto and Montreal. It was a league the size of one of today's single divisions. The quality of play was often exceptional.

It was a special era and hockey collectors who love the game's history have gravitated toward the players who spent their careers in the days of the 'original six'. The ranks are dwindling as time goes on but most of those who are remembered by fans are more than happy to respond with an autograph.

The Winnipeg Press caught up with some of them--and some collectors who favor other specialties.
