Wichita police have arrested a local man in connection with a sports bar burglary this summer, but a pair of expensive signed baseballs are still missing.

Police in Wichita, Kansas posted flyers around town after they zeroed in on a possible suspect in connection with the July 29 burglary of a sports bar famous for its valuable sports memorabilia.

This week, the effort paid off.

Brandon Vanness
An alert citizen called 911 when 34 year-old Brandon Vanness entered...you guessed it..another sports bar in the area. Police made the arrest and Vanness was booked early Wednesday morning on burglary charges.

Taken from Players Sports Bar & Grill were a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle, a pair of Babe Ruth autographed baseballs and several NFL and NCAA championship rings. Police say the smash-and-grab took place just after Players closed its doors and lasted only a matter of seconds. The loss was estimated at over $60,000.

Owner Dave Chaffin wasn't sure he'd ever see his stuff again...and the Ruth baseballs are apparently still missing. Other items have been recovered, though.

Vanness is in the Sedgwick County jail on $10,000 bond.
